AMT recently took part in an inter-association forum, convened with the aim of establishing common ground and finding ways of working cooperatively on shared agendas. Twenty-two complementary therapy associations were invited to the inaugural forum. These associations represent a broad spectrum of treatment modalities, including Reflexology, Bowen Therapy, Kinesiology, Herbalism, Naturopathy and Homeopathy.
While AMT is delighted to cooperate wherever possible with our sister organisations, our core commitment remains the promotion of the Massage Therapy profession in its own right. Any proposed regulatory model that dilutes our capacity to promote massage as a distinct vocation is unlikely to have our support.
You can read the Position Statement we tabled at the initial meeting here. The next inter-association meeting is scheduled for November 13.
