AMT has active regional branches in the following areas:

ACT

ACT branch holds meetings bi-monthly on alternating weekday evenings (usually Tuesdays) and members' days/workshops on Sundays once every 4 months. Topics on these Sunday events cover a wide range of information, techniques and tools of interest to massage therapists.

Members regularly involve themselves with local sporting events such as the Canberra Marathon, cycling events, triathlons as well as the Public Service's Health Week promotions and activities.

We celebrate Massage Therapy Awareness Week in early November when therapists throughout the region are invited to advertise their businesses at major shopping centres while promoting massage therapy to the general public.

Hunter

Hunter Branch meetings are held on the third Sunday of every odd month in the Combined Pensioners' Asssociation hall, 153a Brunker Road, Adamstown commencing at 9:30am. Each general meeting is followed by a workshop or lecture.

We have begun working with CANTEEN, the organisation for teenagers with cancer, to provide voluntary massage at some of their camps. We hope to expand this activity to other organisations in the future."

Illawarra

The Illawarra Branch meets on the last Tuesday of every month, at the Corrimal Community Centre. Meeting dates are advised in the Calendar of Events, AMT Journal and are composed of alternate committee meetings and presentation nights.

Mackay

The Mackay Regional Branch intends to hold five to six meetings in 2009, incorporating workshops with both local talent and visiting experts. The new direction of our executive will see better communication between Head Office, other regions and our members.

We generally meet at the Gordon White Library, Philip Street, Mt Pleasant on the third Thursday of the nominated month. For more details of meetings please refer to the AMT Calendar of Events.

Our members are happy to donate a massage a month to a Carer in conjunction with Carers' Queensland.In the past, four of our members have been awarded Regional Winners in the Great Service Award for Mackay/North Queensland Region.

Mid North Coast

Mid North Coast Branch holds bi-monthly meetings. These involve members meetings and workshops.

Members regularly involve themselves with major sporting events such as the Australian Long Course Triathlon, Forster Ironman Triathlon and numerous fund raising events such as Kemo for Kids and the Alan Border walk.

Northern Rivers

Members of the Northern Rivers Region represent an area from Coffs Harbour to the Gold Coast. We meet on a quarterly basis where topics such as complementary treatment strategies, client support, industry recognition and WorkCover are discussed. With recent changes in our executive, our region has committed to new aims and objectives.

Members are endeavouring to set up more AMT accredited courses in our region and assist therapists to have a better understanding of the most appropriate course of treatment for their clients. We are all dedicated to providing comprehensive assessment, treatment and client support strategies.

Riverina
